This was requested by Emily for Djehuti.

O Djehuty, Ever-Learning

May I never stop learning

O Djehuty, Bargainer

May I bargain well

O Djehuty, First Among the Ogdoad

May I know and respect my place

O Djehuty, Ever-Curious

May I always be curious

O Djehuty, Lord of Time

May I be judicious with my time

O Djehuty, Author of Authors

May works be well-received

O Djehuty, Lord of Writing

May my writing excel

O Djehuty, Strong of Appearances

May my presence be powerful

O Djehuty, The One Who Has Seized Through Victories

May I be victorious

O Djehuty, Lord of Wisdom

May I be wise

Blessed, blessed, blessed

Your Name, Your Countenance, Your Presence

O Lord Djehuty!

To My Ancestors

I can hear your songs in my bones
Shaking through the centuries

You rattle around my neck
The ox-bone bouncing on my breast

You slide through my fingers
I softly whisper words

You answer my prayers
I live, love, and learn

You shape me each day
Your sure hands, stern hands, skilled hands

Ancestors who shape the Ancestors to come
With wit and will, wisdom and worth

Praise to You Who dwell deep
In blood and bone, spirit, song, and soul

Odin Project: Day 30

This is the final day of the Odin Project for this 2012 year.  Thank you to Galina, who inspired me to be part of it, and everyone who has participated in it.  Thank you to everyone who has followed my blog through this month; I hope that the Odin Project has somehow touched you, or brought you closer to Him.

Long suffered He | who traded Eye and Life

for giving wisdom to the Worlds;

Praise to the Allfather | given in gratitude

for gifts heaped upon gifts

Hail to Odin | in times of peace

for its blessings are hard-won;

Hail to Odin | in times of strife

for oft does it visit

Ever-mindful is Odin | of His children

who wanders the whole of Midgard

Hugin and Munin | ever-watch and wheel

and speak news to His waiting Ear

Odin Project: Day 21

Ask Rúnatýr’s aid | if Runes are sought,

giving gift in turn for gift;

For great was the price | Yggr had paid

in winning the Runes from the Gap

Ask Rúnatýr’s aid | if Runes are sought,

keeping keen in mind and Work,

For great is the price | the Runes will demand

From fools who know Them not

Ask Rúnatýr’s aid | if Runes are sought,

knowing each in Their own turn,

Wisdom and power | and rede one can find

If well one knows Their kin

Odin Project: Day 20

Gangleri sought Völvas’ ways | and to Folkvangr came,

seeking the wisdom of Gefn;

She pierced Him through | and taught Him well,

In woman’s dress He learned

Well-wrought the lessons | at Skjálf’s feet

By fire and distaff spun,

Prophecy and power | came to Grimnir’s call

Who learned Hörn’s ways

Sviðurr He left | Freya’s golden hall,

ranging wide in Ve and stride;

Doors closed were open | ways unseen shown bright,

No thing held from Odin’s path

Odin Project: Day 16

The fool ignores | the lessons of Urð,

spiting wisdom for pride;

No words  can reach | whose ears are shut,

nor whose eyes refuse to see

The fool ignores | the lessons of Verðandi,

spiting action for complacence;

No way can be made | by those who stall,

nor whose hands refuse to work

The fool ignores | the lessons of Skuld,

spiting planning for folly;

No path can be lain | by those who are vacant,

nor whose minds refuse to inquire
