Behind slitted eyes

Whispers a voice

Rocking her back and forth

The seat creaks

Upon the hill

Her voice lets out a croak

The Gods speak this night

Piercing

The Power of Words

July 3, 2013 1 comment

Words of love whispered at dusk

as night come rolling in

A voice in morning stillness sung

Piercing in reddened mist

Runes carved deep in the long tree trunk

Atop a horse head sits

Crossed out foe’s name with ink so fresh

The line is thin and slick

Like knives cutting into flesh

and ropes hung lingering long

The power of words carries on

in story, spell, and song

In words the power is still keenly felt

and fiercely is set free

So beware upon whom you turn your voice

in love or hating, speak

In our words our power holds clear

in friendship, ire, and oath

With it we may weave our Wyrd

and with them fulfill our troth

Yet our words may bring doom

Upon us or enemy

To our wrongs it may bind us fast

or in rightness set us free

So take care when you carve or sing, call or mutter low

Before you proceed all your words and works

And linger long after you go

Give gifts in good measure | sticks to flame,

Love for love and friendship true;

Power is found | in truth and work

Wherever your Wyrd is woven

Listen well when | wisdom is found

Seek with ceaseless searching,

Reckon mercy | and wrath

measure well each choice

Speak what must be | spoken in the moment

And silence when it must be kept;

Wisdom oft is heard | with an opening

And known when it is said

I have seen the lines of red

Running back rivers and streams

Oceans parting

I have seen the threads

Twisting, threading, knotting

Rent and repaired

I have seen the foulest deeds

Murder and rape and desecration

Sullied souls

I have seen the gentlest hands

Healing and relief and release

Loving souls

I have seen the brutish lives

Starvation and need and pain

Weeping souls

I have seen the brave stands

Defiance and hope and declaration

Great souls

I have seen the spiritworkers

Sacrifice and work and toil

Working souls

I have seen the crafters’ end

Thought and experiments and care

Productive souls

I have seen the downtrodden

Slavery and rape and murders

Screaming souls

I have seen the lines

I have heard the names

I have felt the threads

I know the blood that sings in your veins

I know the soul’s journey to your flesh’s home

I know where you come from

I know your mother

I know your father

I know your grandfather

I know you grandmother

I know your Ancestors

I know who you are

All the things that make you, down through the generations

I hold you in my hands

And know you

And all that has made you

Whispers from your blood

Sings from your soul

Shows me the tapestry of you

In the threads of your Wyrd

I see You
