On a Threshold

I am waiting on a threshold

The door is cool and warm

Excitement rings through me

What is on the other side?

A new experience, a new path

Out of reach and aching close

Something sings to my heart there

Beautiful tones and throbbing bass

Shaking through my bones

I am scared, thrilled, intimidated

To hear a call, a beckoning

To walk through the portal

Not yet, not yet the singers call

The iron wood unyielding

Implacable and promising

Soon, soon the singers utter

The threshold’s sentinel waits

To open its arms in invitation

I stand waiting

Eager and attentive

Ready to cross the way

On a Threshold

I am waiting on a threshold

The door is cool and warm

Excitement rings through me

What is on the other side?

Out of reach and aching close

Seiðr Song

Rocking, rocking

It begins small

In the seed, in the seiðr

It erupts from below

The power unleashed

In the seed, in the seiðr

It builds up through the middle

The being grows

From the seed, from the seiðr

It extends to the Worlds

The hamr is strong

From the seed, from the seiðr

It bears fruit to the Worlds

The megin is mighty

From the seed, from the seiðr

Its fruit leaves seeds

The cycle renews

From the seed, from the seiðr

Polytheist Devotional Art Challenge Day 2: Love

You are vicious and wild

You are wrathful and cold

You are ruthless and direct

You taught me to love these things in myself

Not to indulge

To control, to temper, to work

That there is purpose in it

That there is clarity

That there is honesty

Then there is action

I love You because You would not have me shy away

You would have me embrace all I am

As You have

Discarding nothing

Hail to the Huron River

Called Giwitatigweiasibi by the Wyandot

Called Ana by the Druids who know Her

I hail You

Your blessed waters flow

From the blessed swamp

To Lake Eerie, called Erielhonan or Eri

I hail You

You, Who carries trade

You, Who carries countless boats and canoes

You, Who carries and cares for countless fish

I hail You

You, Who bears your waters with care

You, Whose paths are gentle

You, Whose waters quench the throats of thousands

I hail You

Your form carries countless homes

Your blood is carried in countless millions

Your body bears countless lives

I hail You

Hail to You, beautiful Míkilvaettr

Hail to You, great Vatnvaettr

Thank You for allowing me to know Your cool waters, Your sloping shores, Your many children

Hail to You, Huron River

Holy One

Who loves Her People

Who loves Her Children

Born from Her or Another

Hail to You!

Secret Weaver

Who knows Urðr’s tapestry

Who ties the warp with care

Who draw the weft with precision

Who wields the sword with skill

Hail to You!

Allmother

Whose regal bearing inspires

Whose countenance stills

Whose words are matchless

Whose power is undeniable

Hail to You!

Hail to You!

Hail to You, Almóðir!

The Lay of the Ancestors in Ragnarök Time

This poem was begun March 30th, 2015, and finally, I had the inspiration to finish it.

Ancestors ancient! Askr and Embla!

Shoulders supporting the feet of your son

Hear my words as I wander

Sarenth seeks your counsel!

Gebo’s ways are woefully wended

The Lakes lay lacquered with rot;

How to heal the horrors of humans

Between the spirits and society?

The forests find the foe fierce,

Blood-embers eager to eat;

How to end the hunger

When the mouth may never close?

Thus the Disir directed:

Ally where one can find,

and stand strong upon the shore;

Galdr and growl, giving no peace

To the mouth give mending

Bind its baleful maw

Never will it quit its need

To eat seed, soil, and tree

Grow well and wise with work

Spirits will show the steps to strength

Listening, learn the lay of land

Whispers come the ways of waters

Hearths are hallowed in holiness

Eldr held whole in every home

The binds bite bitter the breaker

When the ways are walked well
