Too many know Your doom

Wrought by Aesir wrath

Few know You as You are and were

Gentle, strong hands

Beloved of Your Parents

Admired for Your boundless zeal

Your unfettered curiosity

Your joy in Life Itself

So I praise You, gentle Lord

I praise Your soft hands

I praise Your warm heart

I praise Your love for all You laid eyes on

I praise Your tenderness and trust

I praise Your sweet embraces

I praise Your soft kisses

I praise You for the joy of Your family

I praise You, O gentle God

May You ever be hailed!

Sigyn Project: Day 26

The wolf tore the tender flesh

Madness gripped unbidden

and Death rode within the Child

Whose Godly life was taken

The madness gripped the Wolf

and He snapped and snarled and howled

By magic Odin fettered Him

Mind and form befouled

He knew not what He did

He only knew that when

He ripped His Brother’s stomach out

His madness would not end

How come we to this pain?

How come we to this wrong?

How come we to the cave?

In which You have served so long?

For pain exacts its own price

in wrath will have revenge

and in a Father’s loving lost

Comes the Worlds’ own End

You stand before the doom

of all that once was full of Life

You stand with bowl upraised

a weeping Witness and a Wife

Succor, I pray to Your pain

and to Your Family too

But not prayer nor power can take away

The wrong done unto You

Oh Gods, hear my prayer!

My little mortal cry

May it pierce the depths of Helheim’s Gates

and pierce great Asgard’s sky!

Peace oh peace! Peace!

I pray, with fervent lips aloft

For I can feel the Battle coming

And it is not far off

Great Jord She shakes in agony

with Loki in Her bones

His thrashing wounds Her heart and soul

Sigyn, She stands alone

Ever-faithful Lady

indomitable and unbowed

Hail to Your Holy Duty

To the thrashing Serpent-Crowned

Hail to You Holy Mother

May frith be offering,

That no other may know the loss You bear

or know Your suffering

Sigyn Project: Day 12

Another older poem I wrote to Sigyn and Loki.  This is one I do not believe I have ever posted, and I offer it to Her.

I do not come to you easy, Lady

I can see the pain in both your eyes

I can hear the song of your son’s blood

I can smell the salt of so many tears

I can feel the slickness of blood and organ

I can taste the grief upon the wind

I cannot own what was done

Yet it makes the trek to you no more easier

I have given offerings of love and joy

To Narvi and Vali

Yet what succor could a mortal offer

To the grief of Gods?

Your husband lies bound

My Father’s order

Your child’s rope holds Him fast

My Father’s order

What would my words of sorrow mean

Bent to the ear of such pain?

What could my offerings help

The wrath of tormented Gods?

That I could lift the bowl

To steal a moment of labour and pain

That I could snatch the bonds

That I could comfort

That I could relieve a moment of pain

Though I am just a mortal

I think of you and seek

A moment of respite for you

For all the tragedies you’ve known

For all the misery of loneliness

For all the years of pained capture

I hope all the same

This mortal’s words

This mortal’s prayer

Brings some small comfort

In the dimming hours

Sigyn Project: Day 1

The palms of Your Hands

are eaten by venom

Your beautiful Hair

is disheveled and wild

Your Eyes strain

with Your husband’s visage

Your Feet blister

under the abusive rocks

Your Heart loves

despite pain and loss

Oh Holy Lady!

Oh Aesir, do You see Her?

Her Heart as torn as Her sons?

Oh Vanir, do You see Her?

Her Love bound fast, envenomed?

Oh Jotun, do You see Her?

Her steadfast devotion?

Oh landvaettir, do You see Her?

Deep within She yet honors You, removing the venom.

Oh spirits, do You see her?

She Who graces all who see Her, or Who She gives gaze to?

Oh Humanity, do You see Her?

We could only hope to love so much, to be so dedicated, to be so holy!

Hail to Her, sacred woman, She Who Will Not be Moved!

Hail to Her, loyal Goddess, powerful Goddess, the Lady of the Staying Power!

Hail to Her, wherever you are, and witness Her tragedies!

Hail to Her, wherever you are, and marvel! Witness Her indomitable strength!

Hail Sigyn!

Loki Project Day 23

I am weary in my bones, Flame-hair

My mind buzzes with worry

My soul is troubled

Did You once worry as I do

for my son?

Did You ask Yourself

If You did right by Your Blessed Children?

You loved Them

As others called Your children

Monster!

Vile!

Dangerous!

As some still do

Your love endures

May my son know love

As enduring as Yours

In the face of all who will hate him

For his looks

For his words

For his actions

For his path

For who he loves

May I learn patience from You

When my son is distant

And I have a mind to be distant

May I learn patience from You

When my son rages

And I have a mind to rage in kind

May I learn patience from You

When my son seeks the hard truths

And I have a mind to sugar coat

May I learn patience from You

When my son is consumed in pain

And I have a mind to succumb to grief

May I learn patience from You

When my son is beyond my reach

And I have a mind to worry without end

Hail Loki Laufeyson, Mother and Father

Lover of Svalðilfari

Husband of Sigyn and Angrboda

Mother of Sleipnir

Father of Hel

Father of Jörmungandr

Father of Fenris

Father of Narvi

Father of Vali

Mother of Many

Father of Many

May I be a father worthy of the word
