Loki Project Day 31

Thank You, Loki

For a month of celebrating You

Deepening my understanding day by day

The opportunity to come to know You better

The promise of knowing You deeper

Thank You, Loki

For pushing me to write each day

For making me express myself differently each poem and post

For letting me touch, if for a moment, a powerful piece of You

Thank You, Loki

For letting me know Your family just a bit better

For sharing Your pain with me, even if I will never fully grasp it

For letting me know Your Wives better than I did

For allowing me to know Your Children better

Thank You, Loki

For touching my heart through Your Love

For touching my heart through Your Pain

For touching my heart through Your Pleasure

For touching my heart through Your Patience

For touching my Heart through Your Presence

Thank You, Loki,

For blessing me with Your stories

For blessing me with Your Presence

For blessing me with a month full of praise to You, Your kin, Your Children, Your Wives

Thank You for being in my life, Loki

For blessings beyond count

For truths I have had to find inside me

For hidden feelings brought to light

For coming nearer to Your Holiness

Hail Loki Laufeyson!

Hail to Angrboda, Hag of the Iron Wood!

Hail to Sigyn, Lady of Staying Power!

Hail to Jormungand, Boundary-Keeper of Midgard!

Ves ðu heil!

Loki Project Day 30

I feel the heat, hear the crackle of the fire; there You are, looking back to me as I gaze into You

The logs sputter as they lose their water, Your gentle caresses inflaming them with their hidden fire

Were I to reach in for long, you would do the same to me, not out of malice, but of Your nature

To unlock the potential within us; how can we blame You if the process hurts?  Shouldn’t have stuck your hand in the fire

Just by Your Presence I am warmed, the fire expands under Your breath, the dead trees catching

Your sacred önd blows, and the heat presses against my face; I think perhaps this is why we cannot get too close to Gods

If we do not wish to be consumed in Your Presence, Your Being, that alights our hearts, minds, and souls, our tree-selves like kindling

Yet I do wish to be closer to the Gods, to you, Loki, to Odin, so I ask if I am mad; no, I decide, it is not mad to desire to be near the ones you love

So I sit as close as I can, distanced respectfully, close as I can, so I can see You, hear You, away from the distractions of life and little concerns

Present in this moment, sitting with You, my Ancestors close by, Fire itself at the heart, and listening to Your Voice crackle on the wood

Loki Project Day 28

There are times when I complain

About the clue by fours upside the head

When I least expect them

There are times when I grumble

About how hard things are

When life gets rough

Thank you for keeping me humble

When I get haughty

And need to be brought back down

Thank you for keeping me focused

When I get distracted from what needs doing

Looking aside from the goal

Hail Loki, Whose Star is Lokabrenna

May Your Light ever shine

Showing me the right way

Loki Project Day 27

You gave the Spear and Ring to Odin

The Hammer to Thor

The Ship to Freyr

The power of the Gods

Have passed through Your Hands

You wandered with Odin

Walked with Thor

Jotunheim has been Your home

Asgard as well

Many have called You welcome

You have given many grief

So many more hope

The courage to carry on

The will to face others, themselves

We call You holy

Loki Project Day 26

You’re called the Lie-Smith

But You’ve been the one Who

Keeps me Truthful and on track like no one else

Each little lie I tell myself

You force me to see,

Crawling on my tongue like a corpse covered in maggots

You push me to speak the truth

A burning in the back of my mind

Till my lips open and the God on my tongue lets fly

You make me go easy on myself

When I really just want to flay my soul

Holding me back with a look or a word

Every time I want to be silent

When it would be convenient or not cause trouble

There You are, prompting me to speak

So I raise my Voice, Loki

In all its forms

And thank You

Loki Project Day 25

Your mane flashes in the sunlight

I see You, Horse-Lady

Running across snow-clad clearings

As though shot from a cannon

Your body powers up the stream

I see You, Salmon-Lord

The scales of Your body flashing silver

A million mirrors under Sunna’s charge

Your slick, grey body darts, dexterous

I see You, Seal-Lord

The teeth snap, the fish cracks

Your maw devours Its prey

Buzzing of Your wings fills my ears

I see You, Fly-Lord

Your multi-faceted, jeweled eyes seeing all

From countless angles

The staff taps the ground, ponderous

I see You, Elder Lady

The form bent, crooked with years

And Wisdom’s toll

Your green eyes alight

I see You, Fire-Lord

Inside the candle flame, dancing

The sweaty wax pooling beneath

You whisper a joke and a deft slap to my head

I hear and feel You, Trickster-Lord

Your wide grin and laughter

Fills me with delight

Every Form unmistakable

I see You, I hear You, I feel You, I know You, Loki

Carrying Your solemnity and sarcasm

Your biting Wit and your salving Voice

Loki Project Day 24

I saw You today

On the Bifröst

Rainbows arching from World to World

Heimdall walked behind You

As far as Asgard’s lines

Watching in His sentry post

I felt no malice come from Him

No anger, or wounded pride

Just duty and solemnity

You walked so serious today

From Your Worlds to ours

I wonder what brings You to Midgard

The Rainbow brightens and I think

I can make You out

Is that Odin too?  Yes!

Sometimes I hear Your voice

In Flame or in prayer

A whisper

Yet I see You walking before me

And I light a cigarette

The only offering I have at hand

As the smoke curls

And You vanish from sight

I thank You, Loki, for letting me see You

Sometimes we struggle a lifetime

To hear a Voice, see a sign

Yet here Bifröst lays Its feet upon Midgard

It reminds me that You walk here

Among us mortals doomed to die

And You, Your Wyrd, is never far, tied up tight, in us

Loki Project Day 23

I am weary in my bones, Flame-hair

My mind buzzes with worry

My soul is troubled

Did You once worry as I do

for my son?

Did You ask Yourself

If You did right by Your Blessed Children?

You loved Them

As others called Your children

Monster!

Vile!

Dangerous!

As some still do

Your love endures

May my son know love

As enduring as Yours

In the face of all who will hate him

For his looks

For his words

For his actions

For his path

For who he loves

May I learn patience from You

When my son is distant

And I have a mind to be distant

May I learn patience from You

When my son rages

And I have a mind to rage in kind

May I learn patience from You

When my son seeks the hard truths

And I have a mind to sugar coat

May I learn patience from You

When my son is consumed in pain

And I have a mind to succumb to grief

May I learn patience from You

When my son is beyond my reach

And I have a mind to worry without end
